Kroger assists families affected by domestic violence

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kroger stores across Kentucky are working to help families in need.

The grocery chain is sponsoring a drive to collect items that will be given to the 15 domestic violence shelters throughout the state.

Dr. Alex Gerassimides who was volunteering at one of the Kroger's explained, "Last year here in Jefferson County I think we collected almost a half a million dollars in items and so, we are shooting statewide for a million."

Items being collected for the drive include canned goods and toiletries. The ones collected in Louisville will be given to the Center for Women and Families.
