Six people displaced after apartment fire

Police are investigating an apartment fire in an East Westwood neighborhood.

The fire started on the second floor of an apartment in the Villages at Roll Hill. Fire officials say they received word of the fire around 5:20 p.m on Nottingham Road.

Firefighters say the fire began in a bedroom near the rear of the apartment.

Two adults and four children were living in building. A smoke alarm alerted the family of the fire. Everyone got out of the building safely and no one was injured in the incident.

Officials estimate the property damage at $25,000. Those displaced by the fire are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
