SAN LUIS, AZ (CBS5) -

A 50-year-old Mexican man was arrested Saturday for attempting to smuggle nearly 38 pounds of methamphetamine into the U.S., federal officials said.

Customs and Border Protection officers and a detection K-9 discovered the drugs hidden in the frame of a SUV driven by Guillermo Eleazar Lopez-Rodriguez.

The meth is valued at more than $580,000.

The drugs and vehicle were seized. Hernandez was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
