SHELBYVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two men are facing a long list of charges after they hit a police cruiser.

According to Kentucky State Police, just after 11 p.m. on February 1 Trooper Jack Hedges pulled over to the side of Interstate 64 to check on a stopped car. The two men in the car, Brian Haddix and John Haddix, said everything was ok and sped off.

After the car left, Hedges noticed a pile of alcohol containers. Hedges tried to stop the vehicle. The car spun out in the median and hit the state police cruiser.

Brian Haddix, 58, of Taylorsville is charged with speeding, having an open alcohol container, DUI, driving too fast for conditions, no operators license, failure to surrender a revoked operators license, wanton endangerment, driving on a DUI suspended license, and fleeing and evading police.

John Haddix, 55, of Pineridge, was charged with alcohol intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.

Both men were booked into the Shelby County Detention Center.

State police said the investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.
