LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Gun control is the talk of the town in Bullitt County after the county sheriff told a local newspaper he will not support or enforce any gun control law that goes against the constitution.
Sheriff Dave Greenwell said he is a strong advocate for citizens being able to protect themselves.
Greenwell said he was prompted to let the people know where he stands after a slew of emails from folks thinking their guns are going to be taken away.
"I don't think it will ever be an issue that they are actually going to come to our homes or expect us to go to people's homes and take their weapons," said Greenwell. "But I was just trying to explain to the citizens that I would never take part in it."
Greenwell said he is for safety for citizens and would be fine with stricter security measures, like extensive background checks for would-be gun owners.
