Cincinnatians are celebrating Mardi Gras a few days early at Findlay Market.
The 9th annual Mardi Gras at the Market was held Sunday afternoon in Over-the-Rhine.
Visitors enjoyed a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.
Merchants decorated their stands for Mardi Gras competing against each other in the Merchant Spirit contest. Merchants were judged on their stand's decorations, costumes, food and spirit. A panel of celebrity judges awarded the winner a trophy and a cash prize.
The Mardi Gras King and Queen were also crowned at the event. Steve Hampton and Joy Pierson were crowned and lead shoppers and revelers on a parade though Market Square.
Visitors enjoyed freshly cooked Cajun foods at the event. Many enjoyed free samples of a traditional low country crawfish boil. Seasoned and boiled catfish were also available to try.
