LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A family is begging for answers after their loved one was gunned down while trying to get inside her home.

According to Louisville Metro police, Dominique Carter Bryant, 30, died from multiple gunshot wounds early Saturday morning near 22nd and Magazine at the Salisbury Apartments.

"Somebody's got to know. They killed my daughter out right. They killed her. It wasn't robbery. They killed my baby," Bryant's mother Belinda Carter said.

The Doss High School and Western graduate was returning home after a night out with friends.

"She was trying to get in her house. And they hop out and they killed her. They waited for her. Whoever it was waited for her," Carter said.

Dominique's daughter Tatiana, 11, was inside the apartment, unaware that her mother had been shot and killed just a few feet away.

"She was a good person. She was a loving person. A good mother. Why would anybody take my child like this. They just shot her. Who knows how many times. This violence in Louisville has got to stop. The pain a parent has to go through is unbearable," Carter said.

She said her daughter was trying to escape life in the West End, "They were supposed to go to the circus yesterday and look for houses yesterday."

Dominique's two brothers are flying home for the services, one of them stationed with the Air Force in Japan.

"It's a nightmare. It's not a dream. It's a nightmare that I can't wake up from. I want to wake up and it's just killing me. It's just killing me. I don't know what to do. I don't know what I'm going to do without her," Carter said.

Police do not have a suspect description at this time. The family is asking anyone who knows anything to call or text the anonymous police tip line at 574-LMPD.

Services for Dominique Carter Bryant are pending.
