Vanna White spent the afternoon at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Vanna White of Wheel of Fortune was in Memphis Monday with a major monetary gift for the patients of St. Jude.
Not only did she hug and take pictures with patients and their parents, but she also spent time doing arts and crafts projects, using the same materials that helped her raise the generous gift she gave to the hospital.
White loves to crochet and she has been raising money for seven years through her own brand of yarn.
"I have waited for this moment for a long time," said Vanna White.
A portion of ever bundle of Vanna's Choice yarn sold was collected for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
White always hoped she would be able to present a massive check to the hospital that is helping so many children.
"To see these beautiful children and what they have to go through and to help in any way I can is what I want do," said White.
"They can actually see the impact of that donation when they look at the faces of these kids who are being treated at St. Jude," said ALSAC CEO Rick Shadyac.
White says she chose St. Jude not only because of the treatment they offer, but also because of the hospital's constant research efforts.
