Metro police divert traffic from Dixie Highway while the accident investigation takes place.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A pedestrian has been killed in a traffic accident in far southwestern Louisville Metro. According to MetroSafe, the accident happened at Dixie Highway and Watson Lane and was reported at 7:30 p.m.
Officers arriving shortly after the call found the victim, a man in his 50s, dead at the scene. The car involved did stop and Louisville Metro Police did talk to the driver.
LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said the man hit was wearing dark clothes and was crossing in the middle of the block. According to Mitchell, charges against the driver of the car are not expected.
A section of Dixie Highway around Watson Lane was closed nearly 3 1/2 hours while the LMPD traffic unit conducted their investigation.
