LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Second shift workers at GE's Appliance Park have been told they have no work for the next few weeks.
Starting February 25, production on the new refrigerators will temporarily stop for about five weeks. According to the company, the production slowdown will allow excess inventory to be depleted.
GE said it's an "unfortunate, temporary bump in the road."
The company hired more than 2,500 employees last year. GE said those workers who qualify will be able to get unemployment and keep their GE benefits.
