For the third time since the school year began, the same Middle Tennessee high school is dealing with a staff member in trouble.
This time, the accusation is improper communication with a student, and the Centennial High School teacher is now out of the classroom.
In a district known for quality schools, the missteps of several teachers this year seem to be shaking the trust of parents.
"They have a problem hiring people at this school evidently," said one parent, who asked not to be identified.
Marcos Flores, a Spanish teacher and assistant football coach, finds himself out of a job after he following allegations of inappropriate use of social media.
For now, Franklin police will not detail the specifics, and Flores does not face charges.
Still, it concerns at least one parent whose son sat in Flores' class.
"Shocked. I didn't expect anything like that, again, to happen, but it did," the parent said.
Flores became the third Centennial High School educator caught up in scandal this year.
In August, the district suspended athletic director Darren Henrie over accusations of inappropriate behavior with a male student between 2007 and 2009.
Two months later, another scandal centered on the school's principal, Frank Brown, and allegations of sexual misconduct involving a former student.
Brown's attorney called the claims "absolutely false and outrageous," and in spite of a glowing personnel file, Brown resigned.
As for the most recent case, the district suspended Flores about a week before his resignation, leaving some parents with familiar questions about who to trust.
"My confidence is lacking, that's for sure. They need to hire quality people and do background checks and stuff," the parent said.
Of course, that happens as part of the hiring process, but we wanted to press the district and find out what - if anything - seems to be going on here.
In response, the district released a brief statement, saying, "We will continue to hold all employees accountable to the highest standards of conduct."
