LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is dead after a single vehicle accident in Oldham County.
According to Oldham County Dispatch, the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 393, just north of Centerfield Drive.
Police initially responded to the vehicle on a report the blue Chevy had been abandoned. Once crews arrived on the scene they discovered a guardrail had pierced through the driver side of the car and was hanging out of the passenger side, hitting the driver John Gebhart, 22.
LaGrange police said Gebhart was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when he lost control, veered off the shoulder of the road and struck the guardrail.
Gebhart was dead at the wheel when police arrived on the scene.
Gebhart was wearing at seatbelt at the time of the crash. Police said they are unsure if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the wreck. His body has been sent off to be autopsied.
