Ordway conviction and sentence overturned

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – After finding multiple errors in the case, the Kentucky Supreme Court has overturned the conviction and death sentence of Carlos Ordway.

Ordway, 31, claimed self-defense in the deaths of Patrick Lewis, 21, and Rodrieques Turner, 25, following a gun fight and car crash in 2007 in Fayette County.

The justices discovered that a juror was improperly seated and a detective who testified how Ordway's behavior didn't appear consistent with a self-defense claim.
