LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man convicted twice of murder was arrested Friday morning in the stabbing death of a Dosker Manor resident.
Louisville Metro Police said James R. Seay, 68, stabbed Orville Avis, 61, multiple times Thursday night inside Avis' sixth-floor apartment. Officers were called to Dosker Manor in the 400 block of East Muhammad Ali Boulevard just after 7 p.m. Thursday where they found Avis' body. Investigators said a witness led them to Seay on Friday.
"He he did have some bloody clothes on still at that point," said LMPD Spokesperson Barry Wilkerson. "We did collect other clothes from witnesses."
A spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Corrections said Seay previously was convicted in the 1981 murder of Donald Gritton and the 1996 murder of Jimmy Brown. He was released from the Otter Creek Correctional Facility in Wheelwright, KY on December 30, 2011.
Seay is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in Avis' stabbing death. He was being held Friday at Metro Corrections on a $100,000 cash bond.
