OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) -
Bockfest organizers are doing their part to drive away winter and
bring on the springtime weather.
The
tradition of burning a snowman in effigy began four years ago. In 2008, Bockfest Beer Festival was almost entirely shut down as a result of the largest snowfall in 20 years.
In 2009,
organizers decided to 'get even' by creating a paper snowman and setting it on fire in Over-the-Rhine. According to participants, Mother Nature was put on notice that night and
provided them with a beautiful Bockfest weekend.
On Friday, the tradition was carried on another year, and organizers expect the weather to be wonderful.
The 21st
annual Bockfest Beer Festival is scheduled for March 1-3.
For more information about the festival, visit their website.
