The swimmers from Sacred Heart and St. Xavier came up with sparkling performances on Saturday as the Valkyries and Tigers both came away with state championships at the Ralph Wright Natatorium at the University of Louisville.
Leah Stevens starred for Sacred Heart as she captured four events to help her team to the championship. Stevens was named the meet's Most Outstanding Competitor.
The girls from Manual high finished as state runnerup.
For St. Xavier, swimmers Mitchell Forde and Robert Leisure came up with key victories as the Tigers finished in front of runnerup Covington Catholic 430.5 points to 311.5 points.
The Tigers had at least one competitor in finish in the top five in 9 of 12 events.
