CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
Mayor Mark Mallory is in
Spain this weekend meeting with CAF, the company that is manufacturing
the vehicles for Cincinnati's streetcar system.
Mallory wishes to make sure that both CAF and the city of
Cincinnati are in alignment with the project's expectations.
"The Streetcar Project is an important project for Cincinnati, and
it is very complex," said Mallory in a press release. "I want to make sure that I clearly communicate my
expectations and standards."
During the trip, the Mayor will also be meeting with several
government officials including the US Ambassador to Spain and the Mayors of
Madrid and Zaragoza. Mallory will talk with several Spanish businesses about
potential investment opportunities in Cincinnati.
CAF recently began construction of the five streetcars that will
run from The Banks to Findlay Market in the first phase of Cincinnati's streetcar
system. In December, CAF and Cincinnati executed a $20.5 million contract to
build the vehicles and related spare parts.
