LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One year ago this week Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch leader.
Students and staff at Louisville's Shawnee Academy gathered for a rally to remember Martin, who was 17 years old when he was killed. Community group Connected Voices also took part in the event.
In 2012 the Sanford Police Department was highly criticized by protestors for what was considered a delay in the arrest of shooter George Zimmerman. Zimmerman, whose trial will begin June 13, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the incident.
