TEAM TFCU Initiates First Valentine’s Jeans Day to Help Needy Kids
Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) February 25, 2013
On Thursday, February 14, TEAM TFCU, the employee-based community service volunteer group of Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU), launched its first annual Valentine’s Day Jeans Day, where, for a $1 donation, employees were permitted to wear jeans to work. Three hundred and sixty-one employees chose to participate. As an extra incentive, each participant was entered into a raffle to win a Valentine’s Day prize of dinner and a movie.
Employees decided to donate the funds to the Credit Union Association of New York’s first-ever statewide fundraiser to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Under the program name of “Credit Unions for Kids,” more than $100 million has been raised for children's hospitals since 1996.
Thanks to CO-OP Financial Services’ Miracle Match program, all funds donated by New York credit union employees will be matched and sent to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital nearest the credit union. Locally, the Credit Unions for Kids program lends support to the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, located in New Hyde Park.
“Credit Unions for Kids is a nonprofit collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues and business partners from around the country,” said Robert G. Allen, TFCU President/CEO. “I am proud to have had the support of so many of TFCU’s staff members in helping raise money for this worthy cause.”
Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU), one of the country’s largest credit unions, is a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution.
