LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An accident involving a fuel spill shut down most of the eastbound lanes of the Watterson Expressway (I-264) between Newburg and Poplar Level Roads Monday afternoon.

A MetroSafe dispatcher said an SUV slammed into a tractor trailer's fuel tank around 12:10 p.m. Monday causing fuel to spill across the expressway. No one was injured in the crash.

Only the far left lane and the emergency lane remained open immediately after the crash. All lanes have since reopened.
