BULLITT COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A mobile home and car are destroyed after a fire Thursday morning. Firefighters had to pull hoses and equipment more than 3,500 feet uphill because a nearby hydrant didn't have enough pressure.

The fire occurred at the Whispering Oaks Mobile Home Park in 300 block of Barricks Road near Interstate 65, along the Bullitt County and Jefferson County line. Initially, firefighters were informed of a possible rescue. "A caller thought somebody was screaming for help from inside, but both occupants ended up being at work," Chief Rob Orkies said, Zoneton Fire District Chief.

Intense heat burned the hood off a parked car. Siding melted on a nearby mobile home while firefighters encountered setbacks as soon as trucks pulled up. Barricks Road was shut down for more than 2 hours due to a water supply issue. "The initial supply line we laid had a bad hydrant, so we lost 20- 30 minutes of response," Chief Orkies said.

Neighbors were blocked in their neighborhood and a school bus full of Bullitt County students had to be unloaded onto a different bus because of the hose along Barricks Road.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
