Sandra Coy
Some of the dogs seized from Coy now housed at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) – A woman has pled guilty in Franklin County to charges of animal cruelty and that means relief will come soon for the county shelter.
Sandra Coy entered her plea to 10 counts of animal cruelty this week. Six months ago animal control officers took dozens of animals from her home.
Her 28 dogs have been living at the animal shelter in limbo, unable to be adopted, until now.
"We really just wanted to jump up and do high fives in the courtroom," said Nancy Benton of the Franklin County Humane Society.
The shelter has been over capacity. Now they hope to adopt out Coy's dogs to make room.
