HENRYVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Residents in southern Indiana are preparing to mark one year since tornados ripped several cities and towns apart.
On Saturday, March 2, Henryville businesses and community members have planned a Day of Remembrance. It includes a parade to pay tribute to emergency and cleanup crews and flag dedication.
On March 2, 2012, 39 people died in Kentucky and Indiana as a line containing several tornados crossed the states. Henryville lost countless homes and large parts of the high school were destroyed.
Here's the schedule for the entire day in Henryville:
1:00 p.m. Flag dedication at The New Washington State Bank
1:30 p.m. Parade begins at Monroe Township Fire Department, 315 S. Ferguson St.
2:30 p.m. March 2 Commemoration Ceremony at Henryville High School
Immediately after Commemoration - Henryville High School Family Fair
4:00 p.m. Kiwanis Free-with-Donation Spaghetti Supper (HHS Scholarship Fund)
