LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More than 60 children and their families had to make last minute child care arrangements after a fire damaged a day care.
MetroSafe received a 911 call at 4:15 a.m. Friday in Our Angels Christian Child Care Center, located in the 4100 block of West Broadway.
The child care facility was not open, but a man living on the second floor was home at the time. The day care is on the first floor and an apartment is on the second floor. There are separate entrances to the business and apartment.
The tenant told WAVE 3's crew on the scene he smelled smoke and called 911. Smoke detectors alarms were activated when firefighters arrived.

"It burned through the roof with significant structural damage. The building it will take awhile to get it occupied again," Louisville Fire Lt. Col. Jeff Botner said.
Metro police closed Broadway for three hours between 41st and 43rd as firefighters investigated a cause.
