LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A special event is in the works to mark one year since a series of deadly shootings in west Louisville.
On May 17, 2012, three people were killed and several others were hurt in the Parkland neighborhood all within minutes of each other.
One of the deadly shootings happened while police were still on the scene investigating the earlier shooting.
To mark this sad day in Louisville history, a compassion walk will be held on Saturday, May 18. It will be led by shooting survivors, like Erica Hughes.
Erica and her mother, Earon Harper, were shot and left for dead inside their home on May 18, 2006. Erica survived, but her mother wasn't as lucky.
The compassion walk will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 32nd and Broadway.
