Southern IN county facing $2.5M deficit, county auditor resigns

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Floyd County, Indiana is nearly $2.5 million in the hole.

The Floyd County Council president said they have tasked all county departments to try to cut 10 percent of their budgets. The goal is to avoid layoffs and furloughs.

Amid all of this, WAVE 3 talked to the county auditor, Darin Coddington, who has turned in his resignation.

Coddington told us it's a personal matter. His last day will be May 3.
