The fire at 1221 Cypress Street started just before 5:30 Sunday morning, but an autopsy revealed Aniton was killed before the fire started.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A woman found dead after a weekend fire at the home she was renting in Louisville's Parkland neighborhood was the victim of foul play, Louisville Metro Police announced on Monday.
An autopsy performed on Vernice Aniton on Monday determined she did not die as a result of the fire, according to LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley. There are no suspects in the homicide at this time.
The fire at 1221 Cypress Street started just before 5:30 Sunday morning.
Aniton is the city's seventh homicide victim of 2013.
LMPD's homicide unit is conducting a joint investigation with the arson unit.
