LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Lottery will help choose this
year's "Thundernator," the person who activates the Thunder Over Louisville
launch system in the Command Center at the Galt House Hotel, kicking off the
2013 Kentucky Derby Festival.
"For years, we've partnered with KDF
to offer winners of a second-chance promotion front row seats Thunder from a
special vantage point," said Chip Polston, Vice President of Communications,
Government and Public Relations for the Kentucky Lottery Corporation. "No, we're
definitely kicking it up a notch by allowing one lucky winner to start the
night's fireworks."
To enter the promotion, players must
sign in or register for a Fun Club Rewards account at kylottery.com. Once
logged in, a player will be able to submit an eligible current non-winning $2
scratch-off ticket to enter for a chance to be the 2013 Thundernator. Current,
$2 scratch-off games are defined as those for which the last date to claim have
not expired. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2013.
The drawing to determine who will be
the Thundernator will be held on April 3. According to a KDF news release, the
Thundernator's V.I.P. package includes an invitation to the festival's annual
They're Off! Luncheon on Friday, April 19; a Second Street Bridge and Command
Center Tour, also on April 19; overnight accommodations for a family of four at
the Galt House Thunder weekend; and a front row seat in the Command Center on
Saturday, April 20 – the evening of Thunder Over Louisville – to flip the
switch that ignites the fireworks.
"The Kentucky Lottery is a longtime
partner of the Festival, and we're excited to get their help in choosing this
year's Thundernator," said Mike Berry, Kentucky Derby Festival President and
CEO.
Thunder Over Louisville, the Derby
Festival's Opening Ceremony, is one of nearly 70 events produced by the Derby
Festival in the spring. "Thunder Vision" is the theme of the 2013 Thunder Over
Louisville event, the 24th annual production.
