LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Four out of six laptops were stolen from the California Nova Center over winter break. The laptops were geared to help educate students in everything from technology, science and math to art, reading and health.

The California Nova Center, located inside the California Community Center, was created by Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Heritage Council and Metro Parks to help children in need with homework and tutoring.

Clint Scharff with Boy Scouts of America said that although this is extremely disappointing, it won't stop the center from accomplishing its mission. If anything, it's given the center more motivation to succeed.

"We're not going to walk away from this center," Scharff said. "This is the community we need to be in. These are the kids we need to help. We've got to find a way to replace those, and any help in that would be greatly appreciated."

The center needs help with donations to restock the stolen laptops. You can also help by donating school supplies, books or computer equipment.

To donate, call Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Heritage Council at 502-361-2624 or 1-877-334-2674.
