LOUISVILLE KY (WAVE) – Metro Louisville Council is once again sponsoring, "Doing our Part from the Heart". The mission of this campaign is to collect basic personal items for the military men and women serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Hand sanitizer, eye drops, bug repellent with DEET and candy that will not melt are just a few of the items needed for the troops serving oversees. Monetary donations are also being accepted for the troops at any Republic Bank. Please note "From the Heart" on the check.
Items may be dropped off at the Okolona Fire Department, Scheller's Fitness and Cycling, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Allegra Print and Imaging, and Metro City Hall.
Additional items needed by the troops:
Deodorant, sunscreen, razors, chewing gum, foot powder, body wash, Q-Tips, Kool-Aid and Gatorade packs, peanut butter, snacks, chips, pain relievers, Neosporin and band-aids.
The "Doing our Part from the Heart" campaign runs through March 31.
