Clark County inmate dies after scuffle with officers


An inmate housed at Clark County Detention Center died after a struggle with officers who attempted to restrain him, police said.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Luis Solano, 38, was being uncooperative Feb. 25 and was being restrained by corrections officers.

Police said after the struggle that lasted three minutes, officers observed he was unconscious and had difficulty breathing.

Solano was transported to University Medical Center, where he was treated until he died on Wednesday.

According to Metro, Solano was booked on charges of trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, among other counts.

Three corrections officers and a sergeant were placed on paid administrative leave.

An investigation is ongoing.
