WAVE 3 Editorial -- March 7, 2013: Give a Day

WAVE 3 Vice President and General Manager

Louisville was named America's Most Livable City last year by none other than the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Impressive recognition and fostered in part by the initiative begun last year by Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer called Give a Day.

That effort is being reprised as an annual event of the Kentucky Derby Festival for an entire week   before Derby to kick off the Derby Festival.

Many local non-profit agencies need volunteer help.  So do many other civic groups, schools and churches.

We encourage participation. The event runs from April 13 to 21 and sign up for project participation is underway now at www.mygiveaday.com.

WAVE 3 will also be involved in a Kentucky Gives initiative on April 24.  It is a one-day online giving event organized by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network to bring together nonprofits and donors across the state in an efficient way that raises significant money for many worth causes.  All 501(c)(3) registered charities in Kentucky are eligible.  They just need to register at the Kentucky Gives website to participate.

Needs are many throughout our region.  Your helping hand to make a difference is welcome!
