LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Quinten Snider scored 20 to lead four Ballard players in double figures, and the Bruins advanced to the semifinals of the Kentucky boys' Sweet 16 state basketball tournament with a 68-53 win Friday over Knott County Central.
The Bruins (31-4) simply out-manned Knott County Central, which relied heavily on its five starters - sixth-man Blake Shrum had only logged one official minute when he was forced in upon Simon Christon's fifth foul less than a minute into the fourth quarter.
Lavonne Holland did much of his damage early for Ballard, hitting a three-pointer 10 seconds into the game to set the pace. He scored 11 of the Bruins' first 15 points, all in the game's first four minutes.
Camron Justice led all scorers with 24 points for the Patriots (30-6).
Ballard will play Montgomery County in the semifinal round Saturday night. Madison Central and Hopkinsville play in the other semifinal.
