11-year-old recovering after being accidentally shot

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An 11-year-old boy is recovering after being shot early Sunday. The shooting happened on the city's west end, in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood.

Police were called to the shooting in the 3500 block of Larkwood Avenue, around 1:15 a.m. They said the 11-year-old was with a group of other boys when one of them started playing with a gun and the gun accidentally went off.

The child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital with non- life threatening injuries. His caretaker said he was released and at home by Sunday afternoon.

Police said there are no charges at this time.
