CORYDON, IN (WAVE) - A southern Indiana school corporation joined the ranks of districts assigning off duty police officers to school campuses.
Starting Monday, March 11, one uniformed officer from either Corydon police or the Harrison County Sheriff's department will be posted at the Corydon-based South Harrison Schools' South Central Campus.
The district is also assigning one officer to split time between Heth-Washington and New Middletown Elementary schools, while two officers will rotate among the schools on the Corydon campus.
The superintendent said the pilot program will cost about $25,000 through the end of the school year.
