FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky highway safety leaders are proposing changes to the child booster seat law.
Currently, children younger than 7 years old and between 40 and 50 inches tall are required to ride in a booster seat, but federal experts recommend the seats should be used until kids are at least 8 years old.
A study found 70 percent of children treated for crashes at Kosair Children's Hospital were 8 or 9 years old and were considered trauma patients due to improper seatbelt positioning.
