LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two men were indicted Tuesday in the December 2012 murder of a teenager in Shively.

"My heart is gone forever because they took my only son and I miss him everyday," said Tauana Herrod, the victim's mother.

Her son was 19-year-old Kenneth Forbes Jr. or Kenny. He was a Valley High School graduate who loved to play football and had a lot of friends.

On that day in December Shively Police say Forbes went to a parking lot off of Dixie Highway near Garrs Lane to meet with two men police say he knew.

"We know that Mr. Forbes entered the vehicle with a bag in his hand and was then shot inside the vehicle and exited the vehicle without the bag. Then that car then left the scene," said Sgt, Josh Myers of the Shively Police Department.

The two men were later identified as Billy Richardson, 24, and Jerard Garrett, 31. They were tracked down in Detroit in February and charged with the murder of Jamie Young. He was a father found shot to death in his Parkland home off of Dumesnil Street just days after Forbes was gunned down.

"Although the investigations were independent, they did intertwine at different points," said Myers.

On Tuesday, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted Richardson and Garrett for the murder and robbery of Forbes.

"It helps to know that they aren't on the streets and they can't hurt anybody else, but it's not going to bring my son back, and that's what I want," said Herrod.

Both suspects will be arraigned March 18 in Jefferson Circuit Court.
