NFL defensive end Calais Campbell kicks off "Maximum Impact" in Miami
NEW YORK, March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte has chosen 73 high-achieving undergraduates from 40 colleges and universities to participate in the sixth annual "Maximum Impact: Deloitte's Alternative Spring Break" program. In collaboration with United Way and Teach for America, Deloitte will host two one-week sessions in which the students will give their time and skills to designated community service projects alongside Deloitte professionals. This unique program allows participants to learn more about careers at Deloitte and to begin building their professional networks while exercising their commitment to service.

"At Deloitte, we believe early student engagement is imperative to attracting and retaining the next generation of business leaders," said Diane Borhani, Deloitte's U.S. campus recruiting leader. "By working side-by-side on challenging and meaningful community service projects, Maximum Impact allows our people to share Deloitte's core values with potential recruits while giving them a glimpse into our culture."
Launched in 2008, Maximum Impact enables stand-out students to connect with Deloitte professionals through a common interest in education and community contribution. Since its inception, the number of applicants has more than doubled, with only 5 percent being selected this year to participate, making it a truly sought-after experience. Deloitte has hired 140 full-time employees and interns who participated in Maximum Impact.
During the 2013 Maximum Impact program:
"My Alternative Spring Break experience significantly impacted my decision to join Deloitte," said Dillon Blatt, a 2011 program participant, who will fulfill a two-year commitment with Teach for America and will start full-time with Deloitte in 2015. "This trip enabled me to learn about the various opportunities that Deloitte offers, truly understand and appreciate the organization's dedication to community service, and network with so many amazing people. I am still in touch with many of the people I met through this incredible experience, and I often look back on this spring break with fond memories."
