NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -

Authorities have arrested a 35-year-old man from Mexico who's accused of trying to smuggle more than a ton of pot in a shipment of bell peppers.

A search of his tractor-trailer on Tuesday at the Nogales Commercial Facility revealed 280 packages of marijuana worth slightly more than $1,068,000, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The drugs and truck were seized and the suspect was turned over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
