LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More than 3,000 canines are competing for top dog at the fairgrounds.

Handlers and pooches are bringing their A-game to the Kentuckiana Cluster All-Breed Dog Show at the Kentucky Exposition Center. It's one of the largest dog shows in the country.

"Every day thousands of dogs, handlers and owners will compete in obedience, agility and conformation shows. And these are tough judges, but they're the best," Mid Kentucky Kennel Club's Debbie Hibberd said.

The prancing and preening could earn the champions bragging rights to the Westminster Dog Show. "They award one male dog and one female dog points toward their championship. Then at the breed level and group level, they're competing more on a national level," Hibberd said.

And you don't have to be a dog lover to love what that means for the city. The Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates that all the dogs and all their owners add up to $2.5 million in local sales.

The show runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
