LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The death of
a new father who was hit and killed by a train in Valley Station was ruled an
accident on Thursday by the Jefferson County Coroner.
Chris Frazier, 21, died of multiple
blunt force injuries, according to the coroner.
The accident happened around 5 p.m.
Wednesday near Valley Station Road and Deering Road.
Frazier lived near the tracks with
his girlfriend and newborn baby. Frazier's family said he cut across the tracks
every day to get to and from work. He was heading home from work when he was
killed.
The coroner said headphones were
found around Frazier's neck. His family believes he was wearing them when he
was hit and didn't hear the train coming.
Frazier's neighbor can't understand
how the accident could have happened.
"I just don't know how he
didn't know," said Robyn Stempien. "The ground really shakes when those
trains come by. It does. You can't not know. I feel so bad. He was really young and just had a little
baby."
The train was from P & L Railway.
The company is working with police in the investigation.
