Within two weeks two different Metro bus drivers played a significant role in potentially saving the lives of two children.
Operators Ella Holloway and Dianne Wyly drive different Metro bus routes in different communities, but they both had similar experiences when they saw very young children walking alone near busy streets.
On Feb. 28 Holloway was driving Downtown and saw a 2 or 3-year-old boy walking alone on the sidewalk only wearing shoes and shorts in 30 degree weather.
She brought him aboard the bus and called the Cincinnati Police department who took him to safety.
Driving downtown on March 6, Wyly saw a 3-year-old boy walking alone.
It was snowy and icy and his shoes were on backwards and his coat was barely on.
She too got brought him on her bus call the police and got him to safety.
Holloway and Wyly were recognized Tuesday with the CEO's STAR Award at the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board meeting on Tuesday.
The award acknowledges and rewards employees who demonstrate exemplary service to Metro and the community.
