CRITTENDEN, KY (FOX19) -

Police have identified a man who was killed after being struck by a train in Crittenden.

Police first received reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a train around 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. Moments after the initial report, police received a second call from the train operators reporting that they may have struck a pedestrian walking on the tracks.

Authorities arrived on the scene near the 2900 block of Dixie Highway. Police say Kyle Vanlandingham succumbed to injuries sustained from the collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed the two men were walking south on the train tracks as a southbound Norfolk Southern train approached.

The other pedestrian was able to move off the tracks to avoid collision.

The incident is currently under investigation.
