CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A former assistant principal at Purcell Marian High School plans to run for Cincinnati City Council.
Mike Moroski announced his candidacy for council this November.
Moroski previously made headlines when he was fired
from Purcell in February over comments he made on his personal blog in support
of gay marriage.
The decision to fire Moroski was made by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, who asked him to recant his statements but Moroski refused.
"I was blessed with a voice," Moroski said. "It is the voiceless who
have given me the knowledge, the encouragement and the passion to run
for political office. It is for the voiceless that I run for city
council."
He is a graduate of Xavier University and is currently finishing an M.B.A. in Non-Profit Management at the University of Notre Dame.
A campaign kickoff event is scheduled for Wednesday,
March 20 at The Montgomery Inn Boathouse from 6 to 8:00 p.m.
