Lucas County one of unhealthiest in Ohio

LUCAS COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Lucas County is ranked as one of Ohio's unhealthiest counties – again. Despite the bad news, there's a little bit of good.

The good news is Lucas County ranked 68 this year, up from last year's 72, so there has been some improvement.

The report released Wednesday ranked all 88 counties in Ohio. It considered health indicators such as obesity and smoking.

The Lucas County Health Commissioner Dr. David Grossman believes there's plenty of room for improvement.

"I think times are a little better, and I think Toledo and Lucas County has improved what it is," he said. "But we're still on the lower third of the group."

Grossman also said the health department does a lot of work reaching out to those in Lucas County, helping them to improve their lifestyles.
