Suspect in murder of teen berated while being led to court

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – The man accused of the rape and murder of a southern Indiana teen heard an earful as he was being led to a Clark County courtroom Thursday.

Richard Hooten is facing the charges in the March 2 death of Tara Willenborg.

Friends and family of Willenborg let Hooten know what they thought as he was being escorted by deputies to face a judge.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Hooten, a convicted sex offender.
