LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Dog owners in Kentuckiana got a chance to feature their favorite canine in a photo contest all while helping out a good cause Saturday morning.

Whole Foods held a Paws for the Planet event at their St. Matthews location. For $10 an entry, dogs got their photo taken. The photos will be featured on Facebook where you can vote for the best pup in different categories including cutest, best smile, sweetest senior and best in show.

"The money goes to the Whole Planet Foundation," explained Whole Foods employee Jaremii Walsberger. "It's a micro credit loan system to people in developing countries and developing areas, as well as gives them funding to start their own business and support their family."

Walsberger says the pictures will be posted on Whole Foods Facebook page in the coming days. Click here for the page. The voting goes through April 8.

Whole Foods will be hosting several different events to raise money for the whole planet foundation through March 31.
