Ohio Sen. Rob Portman was back in the
Tri-Sate on Saturday for the first time since announcing his support of gay
Portman says he began changing his views on
the issue in 2011 when his son told him he was gay.
Portman was the featured speaker at the
Butler County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday.
"Some people agree with me and some people disagree
with me. The group is split here tonight," Sen. Portman told FOX19. "I will
tell you everybody was respectful."
Portman says that changing his stance on
marriage equality has been a personal and a family experience. He appreciates
the support he and his family have received on the issue.
