CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Cleveland Police located a woman in need of emergency medical attention in an alleyway at East 12th and Hamilton outside the Erieview Plaza located in Downtown Cleveland near The Galleria.
They found her after receiving a 911 call at 5:27 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Sgt. Sammy Morris reports that officers found the woman screaming, covered in blood, and suffering from what's described as multiple "defects" to her torso. EMS transported the woman to MetroHealth Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.
A preliminary investigation doesn't indicate a robbery due to the victim still being in possession of her purse and authorities suspect her car was still at the crime scene. Whether or not anything was taken from the victim has yet to be discovered.
The victim's next of kin have not yet been notified and for that reason her identity is not being revealed at this time, although she is described as a 53-year-old white female.
Police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video to get a better understanding about what led up to the incident.
