LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a charity he founded was back in court on Monday to enter a plea, but the judge wouldn't let him.

Stan Curtis is charged with stealing more than $183,000 from USA Harvest and failing to report $553,000 in personal income.

Curtis was expected to plead guilty to the charges in late 2012, but he became ill and needed to be hospitalized. When he appeared in court on Monday, Curtis was walking with a cane.

The defense wanted Curtis to enter a plea today, but based on Curtis' recent medical problems, the judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation to make sure Curtis is competent to enter a plea.

Curtis will be back in court May 29.
